Pastel Society of America

2009 marked the 37th year that the Pastel Society of America’s Annual Open Juried Exhibition for Pastels Only was held during the month of September in the main gallery of The National Arts Club, a historic mansion located in the Gramercy Park area of Manhattan. Prizes amounting to over $20,000 in both cash and pastel materials were presented at a special awards ceremony, which also recognized the "Hall of Fame" honoree Elizabeth Mowry, followed by the annual dinner in the gallery. Jimmy Wright’s “Eclipse” received the coveted Art Spirit Foundation-Dianne B. Bernhard Gold Medal Award of $3,000. Out of fifty awards, Charles Timken, Margaret Farrell Bruno, Judy Evans, Gigi Horr Liverant, Alan Flattman, Mally DeSomma, Brian E. Balley, Duane Wakeham, Rita Agron, and Peggy Rose received the top ten awards.
